Designing a Mural

As I said in my previous post, I have recently completed brief which was:
"Design a mural for the Creative Arts Block at Olchfa school based on one of the three arts. The mural must be semi abstract and based on the work of Delaunay, Klee or Kandinsky"
I really enjoyed working with this brief as it allowed me to experiment with a different way of working. As I am usually used to working on a smaller, more detailed scale, following the brief was a challenge but one I feel I have greatly benefited from.

During the design process, I spent a lot of time researching the artist and coming up with preliminary sketches. I met with the client to discuss these designs and come up wit a final design and colour scheme. I feel that meeting with clients throughout a design process is a particularly important part of designing for the brief. If you were to hire me to complete a brief, I would like to stress that I feel it is crucial to meet with you to discuss design ideas. I also think it is very important for me to visit to display space before I start designing so I know the area I am working with and the scale I should be working on.

After weeks of planning and designing, I managed to complete the given brief by the deadline to good standard. The client was very happy with my work which is now displayed in the Creative Arts Block. I also greatly enjoyed this experience and would like to participate in many more. If you would like to contact me, you will be able to find my details in the "About Me" section of the website (left of the screen).

Welcome to my Website

Hello, and welcome to my blog/website. Here, I will be showcasing my work, exhibitions and any news I have to share with you.
Firstly, about me. My name is Beth Thomas and I am a contemporary artist living in Swansea. I am always happy to follow any given brief to create a range of different artwork. I especially like creating detailed work and illustrations. Most recently, I have completed a brief to create a mural based on the Arts for the South Hall in Olchfa School. I enjoyed working with this brief and hope to work with many more in future. If you would like me to work on any brief, my contact details are in the "About Me" section of the website. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy viewing my work!
